Achilles tendinitis is an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon, the band of tissue that connects calf muscles at the back of the lower leg to your heel bone. Patients usually report pain and stiffness at, or just above, the back of the heel.
Common causes of Achilles Tendon injuries include:

- Running on hard surfaces
- General tightness in the calf/hamstring muscle group
